About me

This is my story:

At the age of 16, I had already worked on developing software. Starting with the legendary home computer “Texas Instruments TI-99/4A”, I then advanced to PC programming (“Commodore PC-10”) in 1986. Working my way through Basic, Turbo-Pascal and Fortran, I moved into the programming languages C and C++ at the beginning of the 1990s. Since 2005 I have been primarily dealing with C#/.NET, but have also actively gathered experience in many other software technologies.

Between 1985 and 1991 I studied “Engineering Cybernetics” at the University of Stuttgart with emphasis on manufacturing automation. After two years working as a software developer at Robert Bosch GmbH in the R&D Center Schwieberdingen, a former colleague and I founded a company for automation technology in a suburb of Stuttgart in 1993. In addition to my work as executive manager, I was responsible for the development of an internationally successful PC software for automated visual inspection, of which more than 10,000 licenses were sold globally until 2013. In addition to my entrepreneurial activities, I have been working on a voluntary basis for the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (Verband deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau, VDMA): In 2003 and 2009 I was elected for three years each to the board of the VDMA section “Machine Vision” by the members of the participating companies.

Early in 2000, I took part in founding “Industrial Vision Systems Ltd.” in Oxfordshire/UK. As a member of the Board of Directors, I supported the successful development of this high-tech company until its sale at the end of October 2023.

After almost precisely 20 years of varied activities, I quit my first entrepreneurial project for personal reasons in the middle of 2013 to offer my expert knowledge from years of experience in professionally developing software to a large target audience in the environment of the Industry 4.0 initiative. In July 2014 I founded the new consultancy “Demant Industriesoftware GmbH” based in Stuttgart, Germany. The emphasis of my activities is the analysis and valuation of software and software development.
